About Amy

For over 30 years, Amy Redfern has worked in primary education, inspiring and supporting young children at the very beginning of their learning journey. As both a teacher and children’s author, Amy is passionate about promoting a love of reading in fun, engaging, and meaningful ways that help children build confidence, imagination, and independence. Through her stories, resources, and parent support articles, she hopes to encourage families to share the magic of books together. She is a proud mum of two children who both developed a strong love of reading from an early age, Amy understands first-hand the powerful role stories can play in a child’s life and believes every child deserves the chance to fall in love with books.

Books play an important role in supporting early learning and development in under-5s. Through stories, young children begin to explore language, imagination, creativity, and the world around them in a safe and engaging way. The characters, themes, and situations within books can help children recognise and understand complex feelings, giving them a gentle gateway into emotions and emotional wellbeing. As children connect with characters’ experiences, they also begin to develop empathy, kindness, and understanding of others. Reading together creates valuable shared moments between parents, carers, and children too — building strong bonds, encouraging conversation, and helping children feel secure, listened to, and loved. Through fun, playful, and meaningful storytelling, Amy’s books aim to nurture confident, curious children who develop a lifelong love of reading from the very start.
