Summer Activities

6 weeks is a long time for children to worry.  The closer it gets to September the worse their worries can become.  The best way parents can help is too distract, keep their children busy.  Activities do not need to be huge or expensive.  Here are some fun things parents can do with their children. The internet will help with more details and more ideas.

  • Try the different Mindfulness activities (check the Mindfulness activities in this website)

  • Collect large stones and paint them

  • Go for a walk and do a treasure hunt eg find 3 different shaped leaves

  • Cook - bake cookies for an elderly neighbour

  • Visit the cinema

  • Have a picnic - teddybear 

  • Play in the park

  • Stargaze/ cloud watch

  • Have a water fight

  • Visit the library and take part in a reading challenge/ read a book a week

  • Dance in the rain/ jump in puddles

  • Roast marshmallows

  • Make homemade playdoh

  • Host a slumber party

  • Finger paint

  • Make paper bag or sock puppets and put on a show

  • Visit a national monument

  • Fly a kite, make one if you haven’t got one

  • Make wished on dandelions
